Summer (for now)

Where was spring? All the sudden the sun came, the snow is melting, and the babies (animal at least) are being born! I have been trying to take advantage of this good weather while I can. Exploring Yellowstone's late spring and now summer before I leave for the great north ALASKA.

The Bison calves are out! So cute.
It is amazing how much snow is still south of the park. Here in the north a lot of it has been melting. But when you drive south (which is actually higher in elevation) you see snow as high as your car! They have actually been having issues with avalanches on one of the roads.

Enjoyed a lovely hike in the park on the Garnett Hill Loop. Not many trails in the park are without snow these days, but this one was practically spotless. A perfect hike for a Summer-ish day. Sunshine. Scenery. Smell of pine.  No snow or cold weather. What more could you ask for?
