A Time for Everything

There is a time and a season to everything. A time to say hello and a time to say goodbye. A few days ago it was time to say goodbye to the remote wilderness I called home this summer. Goodbye to new friends and hello to a new life with a new job and a new (winter) home in Alaska.

As fall surrounded us in sight, smell, and feel- you start to reminisce.   When I think back on the summer I sigh at the thought of not taking advantage of every single moment.  It is important to stop and appreciate ALL the beauty.

Remember the sunset with colors so vivid and wonderful you consider if it is even real? When the mountain comes out after a week shrouded in clouds, proving how MASSIVE and powerful it really is. The (few) hot summer day, the rainbow after the storm, or the days without mosquitoes.

The long drive out of the park made it hard to leave. The mountains and wildlife were coming out in all their glory. But the fall colors have been fading....signaling a time to leave.

Goodbye Fall...
Coming into the park at the beginning we spotted dall sheep, welcoming us into the park. On the ride out, they were there,  wishing us adieus. Til next year.

Eielson Visitor Center

Probably one of the coolest national park visitor centers in the WORLD: Eielson visitor center in Denali. Built into the hillside. Overlooking snow-capped mountains and valleys, braided river bed, glaciers, and the tallest mountain in the United States. A great place to gain inspiration for hikes and adventures in Denali.

Leaves a Fallin

The past week the tundra has exploded with colors. Fall has arrived in Denali. Almost everywhere you look, at any and every moment, beauty is present. Take your breath away, jaw-dropping scenery. The tundra changed from the green and brown to reds, oranges, purples, and yellows. These are the days of enchantment in the tundra.

We have been losing a lot of sunlight these days. Every 10 days we lose about an hour of light. :( But the plus side of this is the sunsets and sunrises in the morning  and evening. Mesmerizing! And there is always the promise of the Aurora. It has been spotted so far by a lucky few.....................
