A Dog Year

Cheers to a year with my puppy pal Rosie. Every day has been full of endless kisses, cuddles, tail wags. You're often silly, bored, happy, sad, tired, joyful, and sweet.

You are judged by your blocky head and pure muscle. But you love people endlessly and with utter devotion. Greeting every stranger with a kiss and a smile. You bring a good name to Pitbulls. Ready for an adventure or relaxation, you've been hiking, fishing, running, working, skiing, swimming, camping, and even kayaking. Lover of the outdoors and forever an explorer.

But with all the good there has also been......frustration.  Quite the Houdini escaping the kennel in a new way each time-bending bars, walls, unlatching locks, until it was unusable. Fear of being alone at the beginning-howling constantly and crying out. A detective ever on the hunt for food. Always finding a package or box, eating such delicacies as GORP, Nutella, Raisins, Cereal, Sausage, Cheese, Chocolate, Carrots, Cheese, Oatmeal, Motrin, Peanut Butter, Gummy Vitamins, treats, dog food, and a dozen eggs.  Making me clean up an ungodly amount of pee, poop, diarrhea, and vomit in my home and car. Testing my patience.

But you are who you are for a reason and it's not your fault. Your previous owner constantly left you home alone without enough food or water -once for a period of 10 days. When you were rescued you had not been treated well. But here you are a year later and we've worked through a lot. Slowly you understand that I will take care of you and return every day. So cheers to a year of ups, downs, and all-arounds. Thanks for being my adventure/relaxation buddy.
