I took a Yellowstone Association class this weekend on Coyotes and Ravens. It was in Lamar Valley at the Buffalo Ranch. The answer to the earlier post is FALSE. It is not yet spring. Out in Lamar a couple of feet are still on the ground. One day it was snowing, raining, and sunny. But luckily it was not in the negatives!

So the class was on Coyotes and Raves and the folklore surrounding them. We heard different tales of how they are smart tricksters. And went out to watch them.

So each morning we got up early to go hunt (figuratively not literally) for coyotes and ravens. We came upon a carcass one morning, and in addition to the ravens- a pack of wolves was on it! It was probably one of the closest and best wolf sighting I have seen. We watched them as they ran in and fed on the carcass. They were chowing down and playing around. It was really cool when they all started to HOWL.

It was an interesting, lovely, cold weekend. Hopefully my last fix of winter until next year......
